The ARRAYBOT™ Advantage
The Highest-Yielding dual-axis tracking solution
Newer version of Flash Player is required to view this video.
IST patent pending ARRAYBOT™ trackers are designed to provide the following benefits:
- Strong –
The ARRAYBOT
uses conventional hydraulic actuators to drive its tracking system.
Proven for decades in a multitude of demanding applications and
industries, under high-stress and harsh operating conditions; hydraulic
actuators are a perfect solution to drive mechanisms that see rapidly
changing load profiles such as those caused by gusty, shifting winds.
The combination of hydraulic actuators and three points of stabilization
make the ARRAYBOT an extremely stable and strong tracking platform, capable of operating in high wind conditions.an extremely stable and strong tracking platform, capable of operating in high wind conditions.
- Reliable –
Rapidly changing loads caused by wind
turbulence are very similar to impact type loading seen in excavating,
mining and other applications. These applications with similar loading
profiles have demonstrated that drive motors with mechanical gears or
gearboxes simply do not provide the reliability and low maintenance seen
with hydraulic actuators. In addition, much of the ARRAYBOT’s hardware consists of easily repairable and replaceable components with a long record of uninterrupted service.’s hardware consists of easily repairable and replaceable components with a long record of uninterrupted service.
- Accurate –
The ARRAYBOT’s design incorporates ““Feed-Forward with Feedback” robotic control. In contrast to the incremental movements of other trackers, the ArrayBot is in continuous motion with the sun throughout the solar day, providing consistent, highly accurate solar tracking. Trackers using incremental or PID (proportional integrated differential) control can only provide their specified accuracy periodically with each movement update.” robotic control. - Low Lifetime Cost of Ownership –
In contrast to the incremental movements of
other trackers, the smooth continuous motion offered by the ARRAYBOT is so efficient that its drive motor consumes less electricity than a common household light bulb in normal operating conditions. This smooth movement, together with components that have a long record of uninterrupted service, is key to providing high reliability, low maintenance, and decades of cost-effective performance..
